Books for Brilliant People

I am in love with reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and I'm also interested in reading The History of Love.
I can NOT bear to drag myself through the second book in the 50 shades of Grey book series.  That girl is so annoying in that she's innocent/press-button orgasm ready  (a 24 year old college graduate who isn't familiar with using an i-pad?!  Seriously?)- did she never watch a movie on HBO or find a porn mag story in a public bathroom?!  Geez and Sheesh and *blush*, it's bothersome.  Her cluelessness and the way she refers to her love hump as 'down there' are flaws that make this book unreadable.  The only thing worse would be if she referred to her 'area' as her love hump.
Raney is kinda funny- the writing is good and the story rings true to life.
This is me sharing the books I'm reading right this minute...on this road trip.
One important note- I do not think Ex L and Incred Cl should be read on the Kindle.  I want to be able to examine the illustrations and photography but I can't.  I wish I had the book in my hand, but that would be difficult in the van.  Reading while driving from Bulgaria to Prague AND having to distribute pretzels to the readers in the backseat while monitoring the water bottle intake to prevent too-frequent road stops is a lot to handle.
